8 February 2007: Edinburgh Add 10TB of SAN Disk to Grid Storage.
Greig Cowan, GridPP's Tier-2 storage expert, recently completed the addition of 10TB of SAN storage into the Edinburgh Tier-2 dCache grid storage system.
Greig said, "Previously this storage was available via NFS, but our tests had shown this was just not performing well enough for the grid. We've now used a spcial host bus adaptor (HBA) to link directly to the SAN and the storage is now much faster and more reliable."
Edinburgh are now offering 19TB of storage through the SRM storage manager interface, the standard adopted for storage in the EGEE grid.
