31 August 2006: First Meeting of ScotGrid Partners to develop Pan-Scottish Grid.
31st of August saw a wide range of interests represnted at the first meeting to develop the Scottish Grid Service. Following an earlier Expression of Interest, SFC asserted that this project provided a strategic need for Scotland. Eight partner universities contributed. There followed wide-ranging discussions regarding the scope of ScotGrid, its use to researchers, and its practical application to help individual institutions.
A drafting committee was formed with the following constitution:

- Richard Sinnott (Glasgow)
- Ken Turner (Stirling)
- Gian-Luca Oppo (Strathclyde)
- Peter Clarke (Edinburgh)
- Pete Edwards (Aberdeen)
- Tony Doyle (chair)
- Suzanne Scott (secretary)
This committee will develop the full funding proposal to SFC.
