Tech Meeting Minutes 20111124
ScotGrid Tech Meeting 24/Nov/2011
Tickets are the spacetoken resizing (in progress with Wahid and Brian), the CVMFS install. (CVMFS "deadline" for ATLAs is either before 14th Dec or in the new year)
Andy: we've made progress this week. There was a bit of a blocker with cvmfs wanting /cvmfs and the Systems team not wanting that. We tried to meet them halfway with symlinks, but this didn't work well and upset cvmfs. The systems team have eventually given up and relented.
We're going to see if we can roll it out, it all seems to work. If we can get it deployed within the week, it will be passed on to ATLAS to test.
Other things generally going well.
Scotgrid Technical Jamboree Planning.
9th of February (Thursday) is our target date, as it also allows management to attend.
76661 - MPI Dave: after our banzai update to the batch system last monday, everything seems to be working. (We have regularly found that the 1.7.5 pbs server seems to use more memory than before.) However, svr014 started giving mpi warnings on the GridPP Nagios (and oddly, only svr014). We updated our version of openmpi and built against the new version of torque… but this seems to have not fixed the tests. We're going to talk about it and see if we can fix it quickly - if we can't, we'll just stop advertising MPI until we can.
75320 - enmr Dave: our next approach to this is to make sure that the VO support is correctly set up for svr008.
The DRI awards will come out in the next couple of weeks.
The grid award should be an ongoing issue at the moment, given the timescale we have.
Remote access for emergency bad weather issues.
The problem with Durham is that we (Glasgow) don't want to be the people continuously fixing it.
Mike has very little time available to him, but it isn't good for him to not know what's happening in his own system; if they need us to fix things, they should ask, rather than us doing it without warning.
